FastFwd Festival edition 2: Creating a Sustainable Future

September 23, 2019

After the roaring success of the first edition, we decided to make the FastFwd Festival a regular day of learning

The FastFwd festival was conceptualised to provide a platform to discuss different possible futures. Our very first FastFwd festival helped us understand the future of work, technology and creativity. Connecting participants with global experts, the event saw a full-house of the curious and information-hungry discussing pertinent topics.

After the roaring success of the first edition, we decided to make the FastFwd Festival a regular day of learning. And thus, the second edition of the conference was born.

Edition 2: A Sustainable Future

The second edition of the festival –co-hosted by NewCampus and JustCo– explored the angle on creating a Sustainable Future, specifically how it affects the future of work, technology & innovation.

We began with the first set of keynote speeches. We explored the theme of Sustainable Future with Agnes Liew (Former Vice-Chairman of Citibank & fitness entrepreneur) who dove into her personal experience of pivoting from her finance background to a career in fitness in her keynote on 'Reinvention & adaptability in an age of change'.

A discussion on sustainability is never complete without talking about the future of food. Sandhya Sriram (Founder & CEO, Shiok Meats) enlightened us on 'Innovation for a sustainable future' through her journey of founding and building a cell-based clean meat company.

Our breakout session topics ranged from impact startups, sustainable fashion, diversity and inclusion to company culture and saw some top names from the country like Colin Allison (Director at Rainmaking), Elaine Liew (APAC Regional VP Cloud at Palo Alto Networks), Aik-Phong Ng (Managing Director at Fave) and Xin-Yi Wong (Sustainability Manager at H&M) spearheading the discussions.

This time around, we themed our round-robin networking sessions. Our audience regaled in discussing topics like authentic leadership, investing in career goals, brand responsibility, creating sustainable businesses and impact management. Our thought-leaders for this session were Imane Jamal Eddine, (Director & Head of Tech Cloud Customer Success at Oracle), Ollie Wood (Head of Talent at Golden Gate Ventures), Chloe Rees (Partnerships Director at Dentsu Aegis Network APAC), Thibaut Briere (former Marketing Director at Cisco) and Kimmy Paulino (Consultant at UpVenture)

The festival ended by addressing the elephant in the room – how do we sustain the human race? And our final set of two keynote speeches served some interesting answers.

Simone Heng (Award-winning broadcaster & keynote speaker) sharing engaging anecdotes helped us understand 'The Importance of Human Connection in the Future Workforce.’

And NewCampus advisor and VP at Netflix, Yu-Chuang Kuek concluded the event by talking about what we hold close to our hearts – 'Learning as a part of a career journey.
