About Me

How would you describe your current role to a HR outsider?

I am leading all the corporate functions in the organization, except for FAT. My main objectives is to assist the Business Leaders achieve their goals, within the operations zone allowed by the organization. I work mainly with the C-Suites and the operations or corporate team.

What is a common misconception about the work you do?

I do only HR!

How did you get started in your HR career?

I started my HR career right after I graduate from the university. Started in Oil & Gas Industry, I moved to a couple of tech start ups, and currently working in the Entertainment Industry. Besides my full time job, I am also mentoring several (HR) Executives on my leisure time.

Describe the most impactful HR project you've personally worked on.

When I was in between my 3rd and 4th year of working in the Oil Company, I was assigned to a new JV and build things from scratch. I then realized it was something that I enjoyed doing. Since then in my career journey I always look for an opportunity who gives challenges in creating something new, that is why instead of moving to a similar company, I choose to move industry.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change you're not convinced will work for SEA startups?

Full WFA will not work. In Asian countries, building rapport is an important part of working together, therefore if you never come to the office to interact with others, it might hurt your career progression in the long-run.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change that you hope to see more of at SEA startups?

Involving HR in strategic discussion. Since most of the recent mass layoffs in SEA Startups were executed poorly, this was the impact of not having HR voice in strategic discussion. The other way around, for those Company which were able to execute the layoffs graciously were the ones who involved HR in strategic discussions.

What is your favourite HR resource that you would recommend to this community?

I am highly influenced by re:Work by Google, Simon Sinek, and No Rules Rules by Netflix. I also watched a lot of sports themed movies.

Lastly, where are you based, and where would you take friends visiting your city for the first time?

I live in Jakarta. For those who come here for the first time, I will definitely take them to places with the best street foods in the city.
